Q: Does the PhD programmes in School of Computing and Information Systems accept part time students?
A: Currently, we are only accepting Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents for part-time study. Foreign students may consider full-time study.
A: The minimum candidature period is 3 years and maximum period is 5 years.
A: If you have missed the application deadline, please submit your online application for the next intake. As the application period is fixed, we are not able to extend the application deadline.
A: You can only upload your personal and research statement in the online application system.

A: Working experience is not a requirement for admission into the PhD programmes in School of Computing and Information Systems.
A: You may apply for the the PhD programmes in School of Computing and Information Systems if you are in your final term and year of your undergraduate study. You will be required to submit a copy of your transcript which should reflects all the results except the last term results. Upon completion of your undergraduate study, please provide us with a copy of your final transcript and degree certificate.

A: The programme does not set a minimum cut-off score for GRE/GMAT/TOEFL/IELTS. The PhD review committee evaluates applicants based on the overall package that the applicant had submitted.
A: All the required supporting documents should be submitted before the online application deadline.
A: All applicants must support their applications with GRE/GMAT test results except for NUS/NTU/SMU/SUTD graduates.
A: SMU’S TOEFL institution code is 9014 & GRE institution code is 2861. For Department code, you may select as computer science.
A: This programme’s GMAT code is F8D-Z4-04
A: Yes if your referees had emailed us the completed form via their official email, hardcopy of the form is not required.
A: Your referees will not receive any email notification to fill up the referee forms.
You will need to request them from your referee personally.

A: If the referee is able to provide his recommendation for your application for PhD level programme, and send the letter directly to us via his/her official mailbox, it is acceptable. There is no template for letter format recommendations.
