“AI-first” for can banks leverage it for new business models

Increasingly, AI is being leveraged by banks to better manage their business and operations. The speaker will share his view on how AI is being used to develop new business models in the digital environment, enabling Banks to better meet customer needs and expectations while keeping new competitors at bay and the regulators happy. He will share examples of this through first-of-a-kind applications in ASEAN, viz. Ecosystem partnerships to grow & capture new customer segments at scale and FinTech capabilities to improve productivity / better manage risk. He will also share his experience on the challenges of using AI for business and operations.


About the Speaker

Vijay is the Executive Director for Business Innovation in Group Channels & Digitalization, in United Overseas Bank Limited (UOB). He focuses on strategizing and executing business innovation opportunities in the space of Artificial Intelligence & Big Data analytics - to drive higher business value through Industry ecosystem collaborations and Fintech partnerships across the ASEAN region. He has 17 years of experience across Analytics (IBM, RedPill Solutions), Banking (UOB, CitiFinancial) and FMCG (Unilever) industries.

He holds an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow and a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. In addition, Vijay has attended Executive Education programs in SMU & Stanford. In his free time, he loves to climb mountains and is working towards being able to fly light-weight aircrafts.
