SMU MITB ALUMNUS AWARDED THE 40UNDER40 DATA SCIENTISTS AWARD FROM ANALYTICS INDIA MAGAZINE

The first round of Machine Learning Developers Summit (MLDS) 2020 concluded on 23rd January 2020 in Bengaluru, India, featuring more than 50 engaging sessions, keynotes, and workshops from some of the leading minds in the field of machine learning and artificial intelligence. The conference brought together India’s leading machine learning innovators and practitioners to share their ideas and experiences about machine learning tools, the advanced development in this sphere and gave the attendees a first look at new trends & developer products.

One of the important segments at the MLDS 2020 was the 40Under40 award ceremony by Analytics India Magazine. The 40Under40 awards recognise and celebrate India’s brightest leaders and their achievements in the data science field. These young scientists are the innovators and achievers of the analytics industry, as well as the driving force behind India’s data science field, with a vision that is shaping India’s analytics landscape. Nominations for the 40Under40 awards were first reviewed by Analytics India Magazine’s editors—each application was then evaluated by a jury comprising of industry experts, academicians, business heads and CAOs (Chief Analytics Officers).

SMU Master of IT in Business alumnus, Sibanjan Das, was one of the award winners of the Analytics India Magazine’s 40Under40 awards. Some of the other award winners from the night were from leading companies such as Royal Bank of Scotland, IBM, Verizon, Yodlee, ZS Associates and more.
“MITB has provided me with the stepping stone required to get into this field of analytics and data science. The perfect blend of technical and managerial curriculum, along with the experienced teaching faculty and high-rigor assignments, equipped me with the necessary skills required to navigate in this highly competitive and challenging field of analytics and data science,” says Sibanjan Das, Master of IT in Business (Analytics Track), Graduation Class of 2015. Data Science Using Oracle Data Miner and Oracle R Enterprise

“This book talks about how Oracle Data Miner and Oracle R Enterprise, which are the two components of Oracle Advanced Analytics, can provide a framework for in-database predictive analytics. Students will see a unified architecture and embedded workflow to automate various analytics steps within the Enterprise applications powered by Oracle Databases. It focuses on how predictive analytics can be automated by using Oracle Data Miner and Oracle R Enterprise. The subsequent chapters detail various statistical processes and machine learning techniques used for predictive analytics such as clustering methods, regression analysis, classification techniques, calculating attribute importance, ensemble models, and neural networks. In these chapters, students will also get to understand the automation processes for each of these statistical processes using ODM and ORE along with their application in a real-life business use case.” - Sibanjan Das, Master of IT in Business (Analytics Track), Graduation Class of 2015.
