Shixin is currently a Strategic Cloud Engineer specilized in Machine Learning at Google, where he acts as a trusted technical advisor to Googles most strategic customers and helps delivering state of the art machine learning solutions and solve complex technical customer challenges. He is also actively involved in academical research activities, and will serve as TPC member of Applied Data Science Track of KDD 2019.
He was formerly Data Scientist at DataSpark (part of Singtel Group), where he leveraged the vast wealth of data that the SingTel group gathers as a provider of mobile telecommunications and digital TV services to millions of customers across Asia, provide a wide range of bespoke and off-the-shelf analyses that help businesses make better decisions. During his time at DataSpark, he published 3 conference papers and 4 patents in related field.
Shixin obtained his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from National University of Singapore under the guidance of Prof. Zhang Rui and Prof. Lim Teng Joon, where his thesis focused on mathematical optimization and algorithm design for various resource and portfolio optimization problem in the application domain of developing Energy Aware Resource Allocation in Green Wireless Networks. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) in Electronic and Information Engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
