Wen-Haw Chong is a principal data scientist in DSO National Laboratories. He has close to two decades of experience in developing data analytics and artificial intelligence solutions to meet the national security needs of Singapore. For his research contributions, he has received multiple awards from DSO as well as being twice awarded the Defence Technology Prize (Team award) by the Ministry of Defence.
Wen-Haw Chong obtained his Masters of Science (Statistics) from the National University of Singapore in 2007. Supported by a DSO-DSTA post-graduate scholarship, he then obtained his PhD (Information Systems) in 2018 from the Singapore Management University. For his dissertation, he worked on geolocation and entity linking in location-based social networks, under the mentorship of Prof Lim Ee-Peng. From 2015 to 2016, he was also a visiting scholar to Carnegie Mellon University, working with Prof. William Cohen. His current research interests are in Natural Language Processing, social network analysis and multimodal data analysis.
