Singapore Digital (SG:D) Scholarship (Postgraduate)

 

The Singapore Digital (SG:D) Scholarship (Postgraduate) is an industry scholarship that empowers individuals pursuing Infocomm Media (ICM) related studies at the Masters or PhD level. Individuals pursuing postgraduate studies in specialised ICM areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Analytics, Immersive Media, and Digital Content Creation can chart your future with this scholarship. This scholarship is offered to eligible students enrolled in the SMU Doctor of Engineering (EngD) full-time programme.

 

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Singapore citizen;
  2. Current student taking his/her first Infocomm Media-related postgraduate programme in a local autonomous university or local arts institution or renowned overseas university with minimally one academic year of study remaining from the point of scholarship award; or
  3. Candidate who has yet to enroll in any Infocomm Media-related postgraduate programme and will commence his/her first Masters or PhD within one year from the point of scholarship award;
  4. Online or Distance learning courses and part-time PhD programmes are not eligible;
  5. Not a recipient of, or hold any other scholarship or other award of a monetary nature (excluding bursary and financial aid); and
  6. Priority will be given to non-public officers. Public officers are encouraged to apply in-house schemes available in their organisations.
  7. Fresh graduates or professionals are welcome to apply.

Vingroup Young Talent Scholarship
 

The Vingroup Young Talent Scholarship is the first scholarship established at SMU that will provide full financial support for Vietnamese students pursuing a postgraduate programme at SMU. The mission of the Scholarship Programme is to find talents and develop them further, and provide them with rewarding opportunities so that they have the ability to lead and advance the development of science and technology in Vietnam in the future.

For Vietnamese students pursuing the EngD programme, the scholarship covers full tuition fees, registration fees, miscellaneous fees and partial living allowance during the recipient’s period of study. Upon graduation, recipients are expected to return to Vietnam within two years of graduation from EngD and contribute to the Science and Technology industry in Vietnam by working or serving in Vietnam for either a Vietnamese public/non-profit university or research institute or a member company of the Donor, for the number of years of support that they receive from the scholarship.
 

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Full-time students who are successfully admitted to, or enrolled into the EngD programme;
  2. Of Vietnamese origin;
  3. Have good academic results, as determined by SMU;
  4. Demonstrate a desire to excel in research and to return back to Vietnam in order to contribute meaningfully to the country.
     

Scholarship Obligation:

Upon graduation, recipients are expected to return to Vietnam within two years of graduation from EngD and contribute to the Science and Technology industry in Vietnam by working or serving in Vietnam for either a Vietnamese public/non-profit university or research institute or a member company of the Donor, for the number of years of support that they receive from the scholarship.

Economic Development Board Industrial Postgraduate Programme (EDB IPP)
 

The Industrial Postgraduate Programme (IPP), supported by the Economic Development Board (EDB), aims to develop a pool of postgraduate research talent in Singapore. The programme provides postgraduate students with industry-relevant training in both the academic and corporate Research and Development (R&D) environments. At the end of the training, graduates will take on R&D roles in the industry.
 

Eligibility:

  1. Candidates must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents.
  2. Candidates must meet the university’s minimum admission requirements for the relevant postgraduate research programmes.
  3. Candidates can be fresh graduates or existing employees of the respective partner companies.
     

Features:

  1. Candidates would be enrolled in one of the university’s postgraduate research programmes and would have to fulfil the requirements of the university, as well as of the respective partner companies.
  2. Subsidised tuition fees will be fully covered, and monthly stipends will be provided for four years for the Doctor of Engineering (EngD) Programme. Other benefits include insurance and conference funding.
  3. Candidates will work on jointly-identified research projects that are of specific interest to the respective partner companies.
  4. Each of the candidates will be jointly mentored by an academic co-supervisor from the university and a non-academic co-supervisor from the respective partner companies.
  5. Candidates are expected to spend at least 50% of their time at the respective partner companies’ research facilities to work on the research projects.
  6. Partner companies are based in Singapore, and have corporate R&D laboratories in Singapore. The university and respective partner companies would have formalised research collaboration agreements between one another in this scheme.
